Summary
Estimating the amount of wallpaper required
can be tricky. It is better to over-estimate
than under-estimate:
1 What is the pattern coverage?
2 Take the room's measurements
3 Calculate the number of rolls needed
Tools
Tape measure, sample piece
Step 1 - What is the pattern coverage?
For rooms with 9ft/2.5m ceilings normal coverage is
4 pieces per roll. This however is dependent on the
the pattern coverage which could reduce it to 3 or
even 2 pieces per roll for larger patterns.
Step 2 - Take the room's measurements
Using the roll itself as a gauge count the total number
of 'hangs' for the room. Subtract any areas for doors and
windows and add an extra roll to your total. Measure the
wall height and take note of the coverage information
provided.
Step 3 - Calculate the number of rolls needed
With these two figures you can calculate the number of
rolls you will need. It is recommended that you allow 15 %
for wastage.
